Amateur Gold Tour FFE - Esthederm Final: a win for Anthony Boughaba Duplaix
The Amateur Gold Tour FFE - Esthederm was set up in 2010 on the initiative of the French Equestrian Federation. The final of the 2019 tour was held at the Longines Equita Lyon, Concours Hippique International. After 16 stages held all over France, the 30 best couples on the circuit all came to Lyon for the grand finale. At the end of a thrilling jump-off involving 11 riders, the victory went to Anthony Boughaba Duplaix (from the Paris region) on Athika des Roches. Having just arrived from Fontainebleau, the couple managed to record the fastest of the 4 double clear rounds of the class in 34''79.
"This is the first time I have competed in Lyon. Actually, I didn't think I would be able to make it because I was held up at work. I decided to come at the last minute," explains Anthony Boughaba Duplaix. "Riding in this great arena in Lyon - like the top riders - is an amazing experience. I might compete on the circuit again next year just to try and come back for another final," he laughed.
The rider, who was 4th during the Mâcon stage in September, finished ahead of two female riders. Clémence Petiau came second with Babette Manciaise (36''50), and Marie-Agathe Reznikoff took third place on the podium with Sixtime Tame (36''57). The bronze-medallist also received the award for elegance from the Esthederm ambassador, Pénélope Leprevost.
Finally, the Amateur Gold Tour FFE - Esthederm also honoured Jeanne Fequant and Ursula de Courna, the most regular rider/horse couple of the season.
