Benoît Cernin sets the pace in the CSI 2* Prix du Département du Rhône

31 October 2024

The main event of the CSI 2* competition, a 1.40-metre class against the clock sponsored by the Rhône Département, was won by Benoît Cernin. Riding Finesse de Maugre, the rider from Saône-et-Loire once again showed just how quick he is, finishing ahead of two other French riders, François-Xavier Boudant and Ludovic Gaudin.

Taking to the arena among the middle group of starters, Benoît Cernin soon took control of the class and never let go. Riding his beautiful bay, he rode a clear round in 61''24, taking the lead from François-Xavier Boudant on Egoki, who had been leading until then (61''66). Third place on the podium went to Ludovic Gaudin riding Uline Platière (62''16). "Finesse is incredible. She is the mare of the family. She always tries hard for me and gives everything, even though she doesn't always have the resources to win. When I arrived in the paddock, I sensed that she was quite nervous, because she hasn't done many indoor events this season. But then she really relaxed. I'd like to ride horses like her all the time. The only thing she can't do is speak!" said the delighted winner. Now, all eyes are turned towards the Grand Prix on Saturday.
