FEI Jumping Ponies’ Trophy Grand Prix CWD Lieselot makes it two in a row!
Having already won the first leg of the FEI Jumping Ponies' Trophy in Herning a fortnight ago, the Dutch rider Lieselot Kooremans and Elando van de Roshoeve finished in first place again on the Lyon stage of this Jumping Ponies World Cup. At the end of a jump-off involving nine qualifiers, the pairing that finished second in last year's European Championships were in unbeatable form against the future elite of world show jumping. They finished ahead of Switzerland's Laura André on Clémentine and Monaco's Sophia Aurelia George on Berlioz d'Henann.
"In the first round, he was a little over-enthusiastic, too excited to jump perfectly: there are so many spectators here that he lost his head a bit. Then, in the jump-off, he gave it his all and produced his best. But Elando remains a sensitive pony: at home and on the paddock, he's a quite difficult; you have to really hold on to ride him because he can be a bit wild. But once he's on a course, he undergoes a sort of metamorphosis and does everything he can for his rider. We've been a genuine team for a year and a few months now, so I know I can ask him to do anything when we're in the arena. Thanks to this win in Lyon, we are guaranteed a place in the finals in Mechelen. Even so, I'll be taking part in the Stuttgart stage and then rest him for a few weeks afterwards, so that he arrives freshened up in Belgium", said the young athlete, who will be celebrating her thirteenth birthday in a few days' time!
