FEI Jumping Ponies’ Trophy Prix CWD
The young ladies take the lead!
Today, the top pony riders took to the arena for the first rounds of the FEI Jumping Ponies' Trophy, the "other" show-jumping World Cup event at the Longines Equita Lyon, Concours Hippique International. On a course with obstacles up to 1.25m high, the young riders gave their all in order to put in the best possible performances in the same arena as the one used by their horse-riding idols throughout this amazing week of competition! And in this exercise of timing, speed and precision, it was Denmark's Palma Sophie Gry Jansson-Christensen who won this Prix CWD, riding her fifteen-year-old Parc Icon. She finished ahead of two other great young riders: France's Brune Faivreon on Qopper der Lenn, and Switzerland's Laura Andre, who was third on Clementine. "I'm delighted with this win," said the winner of the event, after the prize-giving ceremony in the centre of a packed arena, which was absolutely buzzing. "Parc Icon is not a very big pony, but he jumps in an absolutely incredible way. I took part in the FEI Jumping Ponies' Trophy at Longines Equita Lyon already last year, with my other pony, Bodyssee des Avelines. I managed to ride a clear round on the first day, but knocked over the last obstacle in the Grand Prix the following day. I hope that won't be the case tomorrow. I'm leaving feeling pretty confident after today's performance. I'd really like to be involved in the finals of the circuit this year, in Mechelen. That's why I'm going to try to compete in the stage in Stuttgart."
