MARK MCAULEY IN GREAT FORM
This morning, the CSI 5* riders took part in the Prix BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM in the main arena at the Longines Equita Lyon, Concours Hippique International. This class was run against the clock with obstacles of 1.50m.
The GL events partner rider, Olivier Perreau, seemed to be on the verge of winning the class with GL events Venizia d'Aiguilly, after posting a time of 55'36. However, Mark McAuley ensured a dramatic change of situation at the very end of the class.
Riding his nine-year-old mare GRS Lady Amaro, the Irish rider calmly took the lead, after a very smooth performance. "My mare doesn't have much experience at this level. Last night she incurred two small faults in the Longines Grand Prix, but jumped very well. She had never competed in such a big event before that. So, this morning it must have been a bit easier for her. I tried to ride quite fast and do better than Olivier. I am delighted," said Mark McAuley.
1. Mark McAuley (IRL) and GRS Lady Amaro: 0 in 55''16
2. Olivier Perreau (FRA) and GL events Venizia d'Aiguilly: 0 in 55''36
3. Philippe Leoni (FRA) and Uhlan Okkomut: 0 in 57''03
